Hello,

This is to inform you that the version 3.11 of GNU mailutils is
available for download. This is a stable release. Please, see
the end of this message for a summary of noteworthy changes.

GNU mailutils is a protocol-independent framework for email processing.
It provides a set of libraries for doing almost any mail-related task on
mailboxes in various formats, using a consistent format-independent API.

Several tools are built atop of these libraries and included in the package.
Among them are pop3 and imap4 servers, the traditional mailx mail reader,
the sieve mail filtering utility, the movemail tool, and a complete set
of MH utilities compatible with GNU Emacs MH-E mode.

Here are the compressed sources:
  http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mailutils/mailutils-3.11.tar.gz (6.8MB)
  http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mailutils/mailutils-3.11.tar.bz2 (4.6MB)
  http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mailutils/mailutils-3.11.tar.xz (3.0MB)

Here are the GPG detached signatures[*]:

[*] Use a .sig file to verify that the corresponding file (without the
.sig suffix) is intact. First, be sure to download both the .sig file
and the corresponding tarball. Then, run a command like this:

  gpg --verify mailutils-3.11.tar.gz.sig

If that command fails because you don't have the required public key,
then run this command to import it:

  gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 3602B07F55D0C732

and rerun the 'gpg --verify' command.

Important changes in this release:

* Support for the traditional mbox format rewritten from scratch

The new format library handles all flavors of the "mbox" format
family. The created mailboxes adhere to the "mboxrb" format.

* Fix incorrect message flags in maildir

Message flags (the "info" filename part) used in maildir file names
where incorrectly mapped to internal mailutils attributes. This
created interoperability problems.

The bug was reported in http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?56428.

After opening the mailbox, mailutils analyzes whether it uses
incorrect flag mapping and fixes it if so. If the mailbox is opened
in read-write mode, the changes are immediately propagated to the disk
storage.

An auxiliary tool `maildir_fixup' is provided to fix up all maildirs
in given folders recursively. The tool can be used if you operate a
site with a large number of mailboxes in maildir format and wish to
convert all of them at once. It is implemented as a subcommand of the
`mailutils' utility. Example usage:

   mailutils maildir_fixup /var/spool/maildirs

* Fix persistency of UIDs for all mailbox formats

MH users who find this undesirable can set 'Volatile-uidnext: true'
in their '.mh_profile' in order to keep old behavior.

* Fix message ordering in maildir

* Fix parsing of IMAP ranges

Best regards,
Sergey
