Seconded. There could be a verson check in spam.el and program could
refuse to use bogofilter, if the version was not sipported (lower than
N.NN.NN). In spam detection it is of no use to use old software
anyway, so people would notice to upgrade programs as well.

Bogofilter compiels easily.
