error with gnus-group-make-web-group

I'm trying to use gnus-group-make-web-group for google search, trying to
follow the method in the info page.

I go to the group buffer, type G w, press <enter> to select google, and
they enter the search string "cisco". I get the following error (message
log). Also, toggle-debug-on-error gives the stack trace listed below.
