Hi,

I'm running GNU Emacs 23.0.60.2 on FreeBSD, and Gnus v5.13. I want to
send ISO-8859-1 plain-text attachments encoded in 8-bit format, rather
than "quoted-printable" format. For that I added, following to my .gnus:

(add-to-list 'mm-body-charset-encoding-alist '(iso-8859-1 . 8bit))

The body of my messages contains some non-ISO-8859-1 characters (present
in Unicode) which are encoded in UTF-8, and transferred in base64, which
I don't have any problem with, but for sending attachments in 8bit
format.

Following is the current value of mm-body-charset-encoding-alist:

((iso-8859-1 . 8bit)
 (iso-2022-jp . 7bit)
 (iso-2022-jp-2 . 7bit)
 (utf-16 . base64)
 (utf-16be . base64)
 (utf-16le . base64))

Any ideas, how to solve this issue ?

One more question, is it possible to use 8bit encoding globally, i.e. in
body and in attachments both ? BtW, I'm also using PGP.

TIA
