Summary: easier switch from one patron to the next in issues
           Product: Koha
           Version: 2.2.9
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P3
         Component: Circulation
        AssignedTo: address@hidden
        ReportedBy: address@hidden

It would be great if, after entering the numbers for all one patron's
materials, you could just type a different patron's number, and Koha could
recognize it as a patron number and switch you over automatically to that next
patron. I find having to click on circulation -> issues every time I want to
switch patrons to be cumbersome and slow. I often have a large stack of
materials to check out to various patrons (especially when lots of kids are in)
and want to go quickly through many patrons. Having to switch between the
keypad and the mouse is awkward (I don't have a barcode reader, and enter
everything manually). My old system (circa 1992), despite its senescence,
could nevertheless manage to distinguish a patron number from an item barcode
number and respond appropriately. I find myself missing that convenience.

I have thought of a couple of ways this could be implemented:

1) If the number entered is not found in the item database, look for it in the
list of patrons.

2) Allow the user to specify how many digits are in patron and/or item
barcodes, and use that to distinguish between them.
