I'm modifying the templates so that they check for both IndependantBranches and
AutoLocation, and hide branch-selection interface elements if either one is
turned on. Hopefully this will address the template problems that Joshua
describes.

AutoLocation is working for me, but IndependantBranches doesn't seem to be
logging me in according to the homebranch value in my patron record.

What happens if AutoLocation and IndependantBranches are both turned on, but
the branch in my patron record differs from the branch whose IP I'm connecting
from? Shouldn't I be blocked from accessing Koha completely?
