This is about GNU software, that is software which is part of the
GNU project.
And the Hurd is a GNU project. So worrying about portability for
non-GNU systems is simply not a priority. In other words, it is
better to port the Hurd to L4 without worrying about POSIX to much,
and when that is done, let people who care about it fix things.
