Come on, you failed to read my post entirely: GNU programs *do* assume a
POSIX interface or something close to it.
Of course, it would be cool in the future if they'd be tailored to GNU's
nifty features. Guile for instance could certainly make good use of
libhurd-mm's hooks, things of that sort...
