You got a point there ;).
Take a look at the cdtext-testing branch, in particular the latest
commits. I tried to implement the changes you proposed. Adapting it to
(what I believe is) the libcdio code structure required some changes,
though. It would be nice, if somebody else tested it.
While at it, I also split up and simplified the function that reads the
CD-Text.
Code compiles and works with an audio cd on my laptop.
