I agree the correct way is to disallow $ORIGIN if the platform doesn't
support it. However, libtool doesn't use $ORIGIN by itself; the patch only
makes libtool honor an explicit $ORIGIN setting by the user, assuming that
the user knows what he/she is doing :-). If this is not acceptable, I'll try
to create a patch that will allow $ORIGIN in the rpath only for Solaris and
GLIBC (two platforms that I know to support $ORIGIN).
