This message does not appear under Solaris 9. The message did not
appear a month (or so) ago.
I can't find any call to dirname outside of the configure scripts in
tests, and they are protected: (dirname $foo) >/dev/null 2>&1 && blah.
Can you get a trace on where the usage message is coming from?
