AIX uses a different compiler name (_r suffix, e.g. xlc_r/cc_r/xlC_r) to compile multi-threaded programs. Presumably this approach should already work fine with libtool provided that the user is consistent about specifying the compiler.
What do the others think? I don't want to have the last word here.I see no reason not to put it on HEAD and try it out as is.
