Then it would still help to see an example; both a realistic one (where
you encountered the issue) and maybe also a stripped-down one.  If it
turns out Gary's patch is the correct one for the bug he observed, we
need to be able to distinguish both situations somehow, or require the
user or package author to disambiguate.
