Follow-up Comment #1, patch #8775 (project libtool):
I'm currently working a lot with address sanitizer and this is the number one
reason why some software packages fail to build with it.
The patch is technically fine, however the added comment is misleading. This
is not a feature exclusive to clang, it is also present in gcc. Also there are
more sanitizers (ubsan, tsan). Maybe change the comment to something like:
# -fsanitize=* Various sanitizers from gcc and clang
Other than that: please apply asap :-)
