univel support?

Hello libtoolers,

Does anyone know about 'univel'? We have a customer that tried
configuring our product (Berkeley DB) on one of these boxes, and
dynamic libraries weren't available. Well, we think that's true,
indirectly, since after doing AC_PROG_LIBTOOL we evaluate
$library_names_spec and there doesn't appear to be a shared lib suffix
set.

Their config.guess reports:

  i386-univel-sysv4.2

It seems like a i386 based System V machine would probably have pretty
standard shared libs - there's an ABI for it, right? Does libtool
play conservative (even with system V), until someone tries all the
tests on the specific brand? If I had physical access to the box, I'd
do more research and try running the tests, but I don't.

Thanks, I'm more just curious, and want to raise a flag in case
something wasn't right.

- Don
