Would it be reasonable to make this a ./configure option at libtool build
time?
Something like --enable-redhat-multilib or --with-multilib-flavor=RedHat ?
Or even something like --with-multilibformat='lib64' versus
--with-multilibformat='$host_os/lib' ?
