Naa, since you don't mind my proposed changes, I'll just apply your
patch with fixes.

dietlibc[1] is an alternative libc optimized for size.  It comes with
two gcc wrappers, "diet" and "diet-dyn", where the former does static
linking only.  It runs on Linux.
