OK, so we're already half-way there, and the speedup in Libtool 2.2
benefits not only with modern bash and on GNU/Linux, but all
XSI-compliant shells, on any system.

No. But 2.2.4 will have further speedups, if the patches I just posted
on libtool-patches are accepted.
