If it is someone else's package, you should probably get them to  
upgrade and
rerelease if you are having trouble... but if the package builds and  
works
correctly as released already, then just stick with the developer's  
release as
is.

Read the info manual pages starting at 'Invoking Libtoolize', and  
follow the
instructions therein.
