I made the change according to the revision, ran the "make check" and this time
all 6 tests passed. Worked like a charm. Thanks so much for the help.

The 1 test that failed was

I'm experiencing the same issue.
When looking in the SVN repository, this error was solved by revision 912
"Remove bashism from the RunTest script." (2 revisions after 8.30 release):
http://vcs.pcre.org/viewvc?view=revision&revision=912
Diff: http://vcs.pcre.org/viewvc/code/trunk/RunTest?r1=912&r2=911&pathrev=912
Applying the diff solve the issue and tests passes.
