I could use just a bit more time and review on this.
A very similar case went wrong with the fix to issue 774
 << {b''8[ r16. g''32] } \\ {r8 <f' g' a' b'>16. r } >>

It is minor, but 2.14 got it right, and a tweak to this patch restores that  
case as well.
