New issue 2631 by address@hidden: Kievan notation should space
melismas, not notes
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=2631
The proper spacing functionality for Kievan notation is to space melismas
rather than individual notes; notes within a melisma should be spaced
tightly. Spacing should also ignore the note duration.
This is important, because each melisma corresponds to a Znamenny neume,
and the performer should be able to identify the neumes used in the music.
The first graphic shows current behavior.
The second graphic shows expected behavior.
The third graphic shows a possible workaround -- each melisma is defined as
its own spacing section with \newSpacingSection and then packed-spacing is
locally set to true.
The additional space indicated by the red dot is probably related to issue
2450, and potentially issue 2456.
