The function \alterBroken with associated regtest was added in 2.15.42 in  
commit f7085cf9b2ff111b7d30c8a59e367c771a7e3c52

It should be documented in the NR.  Revisions to NR Section 2.9 ("Difficult  
Tweaks") may be necessary.
