Comment #31 on issue 2538 by address@hidden: LilyDev 3
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=2538

I've done some tests and I currently have an image of 1.7GB, containing all the lilypond dependencies. The live user and any created user will have all the git repositories ready in the home and the environments set in .bashrc. Building lilypond is very quick.

I've read again through the issue and I realized that I might:

- add astyle, emacs and msmtp (as suggested by Graham in comment 13)
- install git 1.8 from wheezy-backports (because Janek in comment 18 says it's more user-friendly than 1.7) - add a PDF viewer, because LXDE doesn't have any. I think I'll add epdfview.

Finally I might try reducing the size of the image. I've already excluded Libreoffice, which was installed as recommends of some desktop package. But I don't see much to remove. As you can see in the attached file (cache of deb packages downloaded by live-build), most of the space is for texlive.

There are some options to reduce the size but they have some drawbacks:

Probably it's not worth it.

I'll see where to upload 1.7GB and paste the link here when it's ready.
