For me, being horizontal is a very important characteristic that visually differentiates slurs from ties. In the Fried Songs project we had some situations where there multiple curves connecting notes close to each other, and i tried to make it clear which one was a tie and which a slur by making slurs visibly slanted, while keeping ties exactly horizontal.
@Simon (comment18):that's actually the problem: this *is* the tie connecting cisis with d, but it's badly placed. We have a lot of such problems with tie formatting; i have been researching that for a long time but fixing it is not easy (and i don't have lots of time anymore...)
