I agree that anything with no melismata will not break. Anything with
no slurs (which is the majority of my old stuff) will also not break.
However, I think most things with both slurs and melismata will break,
in ways that will be difficult for many users to figure out. I
figured it out pretty fast because I had used the property setting
before, but I found the name of the property I vaguely remembered
setting by grepping through .ly files -- I tried and failed to find it
from the index of the manual.
I would say that if we can't figure out how to get convert-ly to deal
with the change, we shouldn't make it. I don't personally see why
true is The Right Thing; it seems to me that false is a more natural
default, and true is a sophistication to be learned later.
