Even then.

IMHO yes.  A probably better solution is to introduce a
`interscorelinefilllastpage' variable (what a wonderful name :-) which
takes care of that.

I disagree.  TeX should do what it can best, this is, the layout of
text, and this should be retained (see my previous mails on this
topic).  But the layout of music should be handled by LilyPond, and
TeX should only be the output backend.
