That is very strange, because configure did find it. I guess it's in
the .so file, but not in the .h

Can you grep /usr/include to find out if it is there anywhere?

we have a  compatibility fix in CVS, otherwise, you would have to
upgrade glibc to some newer version. Don't know which one though.
