This is a font that should exist in your teTeX installation.
However, it may be that you have to force the creation of the
TFM file if you have never used this particular font before
on your system (they are normally generated on the fly whenever
needed, but I'm not sure if mftrace is smart enough to try that).

Try to run 'mktextfm  cmbxti8' and then run make again.

Other fonts such as cmbxti7 are processed successfully before this.
Any ideas?
