The same error comes up in my installation of 2.7.27-4 on Mandriva 2006.
It also did not create the script for lilypond-book in /usr/local/bin,
so I had to create one from the script of Lilipond itself (cp + vi).
It seems that it was not correctly put in the .tar.bzip2-file, or
something was forgotten to be installed.
BTW: There is no need for two slashes next to each other in a
path-name / fully qualified filename.
