I think the proper solution is to have a special handling for bar lines, ie. when a hairpin runs from a note to the first note in the following measure, to attach the right end of the hairpin to the bar line, iso. the note following it. This behavior would be switchable with a property.

Would this really be easier than having a Hairpin.hairpinFullLength property? (while you were away)

Having the hairpins ended on bar lines is less flexible than the FullLength idea, although I admit that I can't come up with a situation when one would want the cresc to go to the end of the note but still end before the next note (other than the bar line case).
