I vote for this because it seems most multi-language friendly. I.e.,
implementing hyphenation rules for all major languages (i'm interested
at least in english, polish and latin) seems a big pain (or are free
libraries about it avaiable?).

I worked on this yesterday. I chose '--' instead of '\-'. The result is great (see attached).
I need to solve a few bugs before putting the patch on codereview.
