I'll take some look again on Ubuntu, but if I can't reproduce the
problem, it will be hard to guess.  I'll try getting in contact with
Laura then.

It was critical for 2.16 already.  Without any path forward, 2.18 will
be released with exactly the same problem.  There is no point to delay a
release if we don't know how to work on a problem, and we don't have
people both running Windows as well as knowledgeable enough to debug
that problem.

We are doing all we can for Windows users, but here I don't see how we
will be able to do anything without possibly recruiting new blood.
