I prefer being able to set the option. For me, the default is much too
rough. If it is a matter of computation speed, a user-settable property can
be tuned to a user's system. Back when we had this option, I had a fairly
slow system and had no problem with the quantizing set at 32. Now, I would
go for an even closer approximation. The elegance is missed on a daily
basis.
