Yes, you should also install libguile9-dev.  Or, to put it
differently, you should get these

    /usr/bin/guile-config
    /usr/include/guile/gh.h
    /usr/lib/libguile.a

files installed (and more).

Ah, ok, thanks.  None of the developers runs Mandrake, that I know
of...
