changing staff in a chord

Hi

I cannot figure out how to spread a chord over the two systems in a piano
staff. I tried

<c8 \translator Staff = down c,><f, a>

But that just puts the whole thing in another staff, which makes sense
anyway. But then how to do this? Since we talking about eight-notes I'l
like to have the chord appear as a chord, sharing beam...
