beamed rests

It seems that beaming to rests doesn't work with a single note and  a
rest.  If I try, I get this:

 warning: beam has less than two visible stems:

This illustrates what I'm talking about.  If the beaming brackets are
removed there is no error.  Is it possible to get Lily to do this?
