Lilypond 1.8.1 and Cygwin

I had the same error messages as Jord after installing Lilypond 1.8.1 on Cygwin.

I managed to fix the problem by updating all my Curr files first, then 
downloading the Exp files.

My old .ly files have strange symbols for the noteheads, but the templates seem 
to work.  I'll check into updating my old files.
