Did you try to attach an example. In that case, it didn't make
it through to the mailing list as the list server filters away
attachments in an attempt to avoid spreading viruses.

It's a very good idea to include an example together with a
question, but in that case you can simply paste it into the
email.

Also, I recommend to upgrade to the version 2.2.x of LilyPond.
Even though it's not available in the default Debian distributions,
you can find dpkgs at http://lilypond.org/web/download/.

Sorry, I don't know enough about how the tablature typesetting is
done to answer these questions. You can probably change the
font-relative-size property of the TextScript output object.
For the slurs, there's a property attachment-offset that may
be useful.

For ordinary staves, the repeat brackets are printed on the same
height unless you have a note that sticks out too far above the
stave in one of the alternative endings. You may try to increase the
minimum-space property so that this default height is large enough:
\property TabStaff.VoltaBracket \override #'minimum-space = #7

The syntax for setting properties has changed from version 2.1.0 to
2.2.x, but I still recommend
