If you are using testing or unstable: Use Pedro Kroegers packages, using the 
following line in sources.list:
deb http://www.pedrokroeger.net/lilypond/ ./

Then get lilypond-snapshot (gives you 2.3) and lilypond (lily 2.2). Use the 
binary called lilypond-snapshot to invoke 2.3.
