I don't see any reason for using or learning a new file format, since I
have experience with and tools to work with postscript.
Also, I have printed pdf formely, and they did not come out the way I
wanted. So for me, pdf is less control.

If the question is 2.8 vs. 2.6 it's simply so that I get 2.6 with a
simple apt-get install. Also, since I guess I am seeing the same
problem with otf fonts as John Hawkinson

I didn't test 2.8.
