Getting a list of all pitches used in a score

Does anyone have any ideas about how to get a list of all the pitches from a
score? ... besides just counting off the sheet music.
Even better, to get a count of how many times each of the used notes are played.

For our handbell group, we want to make sure a player doesn't get stuck with a
note occurs infrequently, or a player doesn't get two handbells that play
constantly.
