Exactly, that's the issue. That's also the reason why I put a 
 | % 7
at the end of each measure (so I get warnings if I put in wrong durations for 
some of the notes in that measure) and a 
 | \barNumberCheck #10
every 10 measures. This way I can easily detect if the measures are off in the 
different instruments.

BTW, the bar number is always the bar number of the NEXT measure (i.e. after 
the | you are already in the next measure...).
