Works for me, too.

Am I correct in observing that you can not define variables with 
this tool? Even this simple example fails to compile with a 
"unexpected string" error:

notes = { c d e f }

\relative c' {
  \notes
}


Is there a checkbox somewhere that would allow me to define variables?
