indeed. i'm still not clear about the define-****-function lot, but now i
tried define-event-function and it works perfectly, thank you.

just to clarify, these markups aren't in any way related to the \tempo
command. they're used to label a timeline and they serve as cues for the
electronic part, as in the attached image.
