That's *Behind* Bars, in fact: it's a pun on the expression meaning "in prison".

... but I wasn't able to find a reference to this problem.

Any excuse to consult the bible! Page 484, under "Bar numbers": "The first complete bar (and not an up-beat) is bar 1."
