Exactly the same. The documentation could show one such case, too. But it is not
different from the chord cases as you can see here:
\new PianoStaff \relative c'' <<
\set PianoStaff.connectArpeggios = ##t
\new Staff { c4\arpeggio }
\new Staff { c,4\arpeggio }

It is always the connectArpeggios property that matters.
