Hi Kieren,

thanks for the link. But isn’t that the opposite question? Here I would
have thought that the horizontal positioning of the beam must account
for the stem thickness. Obviously, the stems scale with the staff line
thickness. But that’s not the point. My question was about the
horizontal start and end of the beam which is not aligned with the stem.

I thought this picture was once in the essay¹:

I couldn’t find the article/page where it is used. But I thought
Lilypond should do better when aligning stems and beams.

I am not calling it a bug, yet, because you guys might tell me that I
should not override this property but use the
"set-staff-line-thickness-and-scale-everything-correctly" function which
I just not found yet.
