Hi Ken,
That’s a lovely vague indication, isn’t it! I always felt it implied more of a playing style than a tempo, but everything I have played that has had that marking has been mostly along the lines of an “andantino.” It’s hard to give an exact metronome marking for that, though, it depends on the harmonic motion as well as the predominant rhythmic motion! Do you have a scan or photo of the piece?
