Indexing for c2lout?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I don't see the subject
of indexing discussed with respect to c2lout in the lout doc set,
or anywhere in my (partial) archives of the mailing list.

Is there any way (other than by hand with a text editor) to construct
a reasonable index of the symbols in C source code?  Something along
the lines of ctags -v foo.c | vgrind -x?
